THE LATEST
At this point in the season, I think it important to reflect on the
accomplishments of each level within our program.
The freshmen team has started better than any other frosh team in my time at Redwood. While talented to be sure, I have watched as they have bonded
remarkably well as a team. They are supportive of each other both on and
off the field and the support that their parents have demonstrated has been awesome.
I am sure that you as proud of your sons as we are. Keep up the great work,
Frosh coaches. You are doing a fantastic job with these young men.
The JV team is showing progress that has not been witnessed on the
scoreboard yet. The varsity coaching staff interacts with the JV team every Monday and Friday and has opportunities each day to see their progress. While their numbers are small, they are supportive of each other and have worked hard to become a better team. What we see each day is improvement and that is the main objective of any team. I am confident that scoreboard success is in the very near future. I know that Corky and the rest of his staff are working diligently to put their team in a positive frame of mind as their season unfolds.
The Varsity team is playing at a very high level of proficiency. They have
become a family and bring that to the field each day. They feed off of each
other and are having a lot of fun. They are clearly the best group that I
have coached at Redwood and I am confidant that by season’s end they will have achieved all of their goals.
I have always felt that football represents the very epitome of a team
sport. Each player relies on teammates to do their job on any given play to insure success. Without their individual efforts, team success could not be possible.
Sometimes it is unfair to look at a team and judge them by their record.
Sometimes the growth that teams display is a more accurate measure of their success.
Thank you for your support of not only your sons but also the entire program.
The player’s experience is directly related to the support that we all show to them.
